Don't count me out
Rosi Sexton responds to being the Underdog in UFC 161

UFC 161 will showcase two veteran female fighters this weekend. Canada's first UFC fighter, Alexis Davis will meet the UK's Rosi Sexton this Saturday, June 15th.

Davis was surprised to receive a call from UFC President Dana White asking her to fight Sexton. "It threw me for a loop, being from a smaller MMA community, I knew who she was, but I thought she was fighting at a lower weight. Actually, I was excited for the fight."

Davis will have a height and reach advantage over Sexton. "That doesn't really happen to me often where I have a height and reach advantage. Of course, I'm hoping to capitalize on that. It's something I've been pushing for and striving for in my game".

But don't count Sexton out yet. She loves being the underdog and has been working closely with her training team coming up with a good strength and conditioning program, nutrition program and a good game plan utilizing her wrestling and grappling background. "This was something we thought very carefully about—I sat down with my coaches and said, is this feasible, can we do this?"

Sexton feels very much the underdog, which she is more than comfortable with. "I love being the underdog, I go in there and I have everything to prove—I love that feeling. But I think if Alexis views me as a stepping stone to Rousey, she is going to get a wakeup call on Saturday. I don't think I'm going to be a good stepping stone for anyone. I know what I'm good at and I like to play to my strengths said Sexton."

Tune in to this 135-pound fight airing on the pay-per-view portion of the main card this Saturday.
