More Controversy in Women's MMA

Sarah D’Alelio handled herself with a lot of class after her controversial loss to “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey during friday nights Strikeforce Challengers series.

Twenty five seconds into the first round Rousey pulled off a pretty slick armbar however, it wasn’t being executed properly and D’Alelio was doing a good job defending the potential submission. At this point, Rousey is seen saying something to referee Steve Mazzagatti. We later find out from Rousey herself, that she heard D’Alelio say “tap, tap” and the fight was stopped by Mazzagatti. Later in the dressing room Rousey claims that D’Alelio screamed out during the attempted armbar. So, which is it? Did she say “tap, tap, or did she scream. It should be noted that no one heard D’Alelio scream out anytime during the match. Let’s assume that Rousey is being honest about these claims; wouldn’t it be the referees’s responsibility to ensure that D’Alelio did in fact say “tap, tap” or that she was not defending properly before stopping the fight. I do hope that D’Alelio appeals this decision. I would hate to see this as a loss on her record.
