The first defence: Marloes Coenen has a pretty good shot against Cyborg.
If you are new to women's MMA, you probably only know a couple of names (Carrie Vera, Kim Couture, Cyborg Santos and Gina Carano are arguably the most famous). If you know a bit more about women's MMA, you probably know a little bit about Marloes Coenen.
While Marloes isn't as well known to the general public, she has an impressive 17 - 3 - 0 record and serious skills. One of the three losses was a controversial decision against Roxanne Modafferi, and that loss was avenged on the undercard at Strikeforce - Fedor vs. Rogers by one of the quickest armbars I have ever seen. This girl has some serious Jiu-Jitsu skills, and she has great Muay Thai skills. Her major weakness seems to be in her takedown defence (an area that is really Cyborg's strongest). I also haven't seen her deal with a really strong ground and pound fighter, although her guard seems good enough to mitigate most of the damage she gets from G&P.
In the end, this fight will probably hit the ground, and whether Marloes can contain Cyborg long enough to get a submission will be the deciding factor. Personally, I believe Cyborg has the edge, but I do think Marloes has a shot.
