MANTO: It's a man's worldI was absolutely horrified to see the following image appear on my newsfeed today. It was brought to my attention by a fellow female grappler.
To say I was shocked is an understatement. Not only is this image offensive and degrading to women, it undermines the sport and its practitioners. It saddens me to see a company resort to such cheap tactics to sell a product, especially in a male dominated sport where women have to work twice as hard just to be taken seriously. “Wow, fortunately, they brought the picture down, unfortunately, they seem to have no sincerity behind the move. Since when does a brand stand behind and support such outdated sexism?” BJJ Purple belt and instructor Courtney Pratt.
If the goal of Manto was to create a campaign that would garner a fair amount of attention, then they succeeded. Is this kind of attention good for their image? Absolutely not.
Do you think the Manto brand is now tarnished and will you be purchasing from this company?
