Sexton "Tops" Moaddferi In breaking news, #3 ranked 125 pounder Rosi Sexton defeats #5 ranked 135 pounderRoxanne Modafferi by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-28, 30-29) after three rounds in what was a battle of wills and skills at Cage Warriors in London. A lot of clinch work in the first round made it dead even going into the second round. Although Sexton took Modafferi down in the second, Modafferi was able to get both a triangle and armbar attempt before the round ended. Sexton controlled Modafferi on the ground for most of the third round, but just before the bell Modafferi tried for a triangle choke. Sexton was able to escape right before the third round ended. This is Sexton’s second win in a row, and Modafferi’s second loss in a row. The next Cage Warriors event is set for Ireland in April, with Ash "the Bash" Daly set to fight in her homeland.

Champ Marloes Coenen (left) & Liz Carmouche face off Saturday Strikeforce Grand Prix winner Miehsa Tate is out of her title match this weekend with 135 pound champ Marloes Coenen due to a knee injury. In her place, Strikeforce fighter and #9 ranked Liz Carmouche will be getting the opportunity to become champion. Carmouche is currently 5-0, with two wins in Strikeforce. She defeated former 145 pound contender Jan Finney this past November. Coenen commented that she wasn’t concerned about the change and was prepared for this weekend’s match. The winner will be facing Miesha Tate later this year. The Strikeforce card will be in Columbus, OH Saturday and will be televised on Showtime.
Hometown girl Sarah Kaufman to fight in Victoria, BC Former Strikeforce champ Sarah Kaufman will be fulfilling a life long dream of fighting in her hometown in April. Kaufman has signed to fight for the Armageddon Fighting Championship April 2 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The fight will be streamed onGoFightLive.tv. An opponent is yet to be announced. Kaufman is still signed with Strikeforce for five more fights.
Katrina Hallinan (left) vs. Zoila Frausto-Gurgel (right) Saturday In another big match this weekend, Bellator champion Zoila Frausto-Gurgel will be rematchingKarina Hallinan in a non-title match at Bellator 35 at Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, CA. Frausto won a controversial split decision over Hallinan two years ago, and Hallinan hopes to avenge the loss. Hallinan has been training with Frausto’s rival Michele Ould. The newlywed Fruasto has been training with her new husband Jorge Gurgel, who will be on the Strikeforce card the same night of the match. Although not scheduled to be televised, Bellator may air the match or at least highlights when they are live on MTV2 Saturday.
Boxing champion Holly Holms steps out of the ring into the cage Friday In her MMA debut this coming Friday, WIBA and IBA Boxing champion Holly Holm (29-1-3 Boxing) will face Christina Domke (4-1 MMA) at the Mean 1 MMA card at the Route 66 Casino in Albuquerque, NM. This will be Holms’ first venture into the cage. Holms has not lost a boxing match in well over six years and has 9 knockouts to her credit, including one this past December. Holms is out of Greg Jacskon’s MMA.
Wisconsin MMA's Chrsitina Domke Domke is familiar with TKOs as well, getting 3 wins via that fashion. The Wisconsin native hopes to make an impression on Holms in this contest.
Grappling champ Sheila Bird Another world champion making her pro MMA debut this weekend is multi-time FILA grappling champion Shiela Bird. She is set to face debuting Tanya Byrne at Unified MMA on March 4th in Edmonton, Alberta. Bird has fought once in MMA in an amateur bout in 2006, winning by a tko. She boosts a 107-8 record in grappling with 8 world titles to her credit. She defeated #1 ranked MMA fighter Tara LaRosa three different times in grappling. Fightergirls fighter Michele Gutierrez on the set of "Supremacy MMA" 505 Games announced this week that fighter Felice Herrig and Michele Gutierrez will be featured in the upcoming Supremacy MMA video game, to be released in June. The game also features "Fightergirls" brand clothing. Screen captures have been released and you can go here to see them plus link to video interviews with the two.
Speaking of the Lil Bulldog, Herrig will be fight Andrea Miller at the CCC 3 fights in Villa Park, IL this Saturday.

Ashlee Evans-Smith, who lost to Adams in the semi-finals, will now face Taylor Stratford in the finals on Mar. 12 live on GoFightLive.tv.
